Best way to get Sony Alpha A77 MTS footages to iMovie for editing

Sony Alpha A77 features a new 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor and 12fps full-resolution shooting. It also uses a new 19-point AF sensor, 11 points of which are cross-type (sensitive to detail in both the vertical and horizontal axis). Have you got some HD videos from the camera? Do you want to edit the recordings with iMovie? If so, you will meet some errors when you import the recorded ile to iMovie. Because the file from Sony A77 is AVCHD(MTS/M2TS). As we all know AVCHD isn't a good editing and playing codec for Mac users. Plus, iMovie is designed to edit Apple Intermediate Codec(AIC) format. So we'd better convert MTS to AIC before ingest to iMovie.



Step 1: Install and run your Mac MTS Converter. Click the adding button to import your Sony .mts/.m2ts files.

Step 2: Click on the “Format” and you will get a dropdown menu. Move you pointer to iMovie and Final Cut Express > Apple Intermediate Codec(AIC) (*.mov). Then you can set the output folder by clicking “Browse” icon as you need.

Step 3: Set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 and keep 5.1 channels to keep the best quality via clicking “Settings” icon.

Step 4: Start to recoding Sony A77 AVCHD to iMovie's video format by clicking “Convert”.

After the eays three steps, you can easily get Sony A77 MTS to iMovie keeping HD video quality on Mac.
